ENG - 127-all out (16.3 Ovs)
Chahal, Man of the Match and Man of the Series: "I felt nice playing my first match at Bengaluru for India. I have bowled in the poweplay in the IPL and Virat has the confidence in me to give me the ball. I plan according to how the batsman plays. Even Dhoni used to tell me what the batsman is going to play. Mishy bowled well in the last match as well, looking at him I get the confidence to toss the ball up."
Morgan: "We lost two in batsmen and it really hurt us. It was an excellent spell from Chahal. Credit should be given where it is due. India played the better cricket today. Beautiful wicket to bat and we would have taken 190-200 at the beginning. We take a lot of things. The biggest thing is our bowling. We showed improvement in our bowling department. Tonight's batting performance has been our worst in a couple of years."
Coming to England's batting display, the less said about the latter half the better. Billings didn't bother to open his account and the pair of Roy and Root steadied the innings with a 47-run stand. There was another handy partnership between the skipper and his subordinate, but once Morgan fell, it was some mind-numbing batting from the visitors. No one was ready to bat the 20 overs and seemed like in a hurry to catch the plane back home.
Credit must be given to the Indian bowlers. The ground at Bangalore is not the easiest for the bowlers. Sometimes even 200 is not defendable, what with the dew around today. Kohli was seen wiping the ball at every opportunity and he rotated his bowlers around. Apart from that Raina over, all his moves came off today. Chahal too read the conditions well and mixed it up smartly. He had to as he plays two months of his cricket here and we cannot forget Mishra's contribution, it was his last over that triggered the collapse. Overall, it was a near perfect T20 performance by the home side - runs on the board, big total set and the bowlers bowling to their field.
The England team come out to shake hands with the victorious Indian side. Chahal with jersey number 6 and 6 wickets in the game leads the home side out of the field. Yuvraj lifted Chahal like a baby after he claimed his last wicket. A happy Indian unit out there at the Chinnaswamy. But, hang on! What happened in the last 20 minutes? Need to catch a breath to summarize the collapse. England seemed to be in the game with Root and Morgan well set, they needed 89 runs in 8 overs with 8 wickets in hand. On most days, you should fancy the chasing side, especially at this venue. A tight 13th over from Mishra followed by a two-wicket over from Chahal just tilted the game in India's favour. The visitors could not recover after that as they lost their
last 8 wickets for 8 runs in a span of 19 balls.
Teams:
India (Playing XI): Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli(c), Rishabh Pant, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Amit Mishra, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra
England (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Sam Billings, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler(w), Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Tymal Mills
Kohli: "Seeing the wicket how dry it is, maybe it will be perfect to bat on in the first half. Just felt a bit of dew while practicing now. We have to bat better than the last two games. The surface is pretty dry. I think it is going to break a bit. I think it is going to help the spinners a bit in the second innings. We got to put up a big total because this is a high-scoring ground. We have worked hard throughout the season. Rishabh Pant makes his debut in place of Manish Pandey."
Morgan: "We are going to have a bowl first. The wicket looks reasonably good. It's a high-scoring ground. Hopefully we put up a complete performance tonight. The bowlers have come a long way, hopefully the batsmen come to the fore tonight. It's a huge game. It's a big final. It's a great stage to come out and express yourself. Liam Dawson misses out, Liam Plunkett comes back."
England have won the toss and have opted to field
Pitch Report: 'This is not a good looking pitch, there are plenty of cracks, but it might not open up. The dew might be a factor and the team winning the toss will have a decision to make. The odd ball will keep low and this looks like a slow pitch. It's a high scoring ground and should remain the same once again. But I can't see this to be a 200 vs 200 contest. It should be a tight game, 160 might well turn out to be a winning score today,' reckons Sunil Gavaskar.
We are at the fortress of Royal Challengers Bangalore and that means a run-fest is on the cards. However, the record books in T20Is say a different story. Four matches have been played at this venue and the highest score batting first on this ground has been just 157 - by Australia against Bangladesh, during last year's T20 World Cup. India's highest score on this ground is 146 and they just about defended it - during that memorable game against Bangladesh.
Our man, Kaushik Rangarajan is at the ground and he has sent in the first piece of information. Rishabh Pant, the Under-19 star has just received his maiden India cap from former India stumper, Saba Karim. That means there will be at least one change to the team that scraped home in Nagpur. He will also become the youngest India player to make his T20I debut for India.
The series was lost by the time the two teams landed in Kolkata for the third and final game. However, the visitors had some luck going their way as the hosts lost a thriller at the Eden Gardens. The Twenty20 internationals (T20Is), perhaps the best suited format for the big-hitting England batsmen was their best bet for a series win and as we get ready for the series finale in Bengaluru - it's all square at 1-1, with the winner taking home the cup. Can Kohli, leading his national side for the first time at his adopted home emerge triumphant? Or will Eoin Morgan call the shots once again? Remember, England have never lost a T20I series to India, but this is also the first time that the two teams have been involved in a 3-match series.
The final day of England's long and disastrous tour of India is here and the visitors are in with a chance to take home some silverware to show for their efforts right throughout a tour which began on November 9th in Rajkot, the venue of the first of five Tests. After a draw in the opening Test, India went on to dominate the series, winning by a comfortable 4-0 margin. The Tests were followed by a short Christmas and New Year break, but if England felt it would rejuvenate them, they were in for more disappointment in the 50-over format of the game.

And so, here we are. England's long, winding tour of India will come to an end in Bengaluru. It's been taxing and challenging for most parts but they stand at the finish line with the possibility of returning home with victory in the shortest format. They had a chance to slam the series door shut on India's face a couple of nights ago in Nagpur. But a combination of excellent Indian death bowling and a dubious umpiring decision, on that has since created much furore, has meant Virat Kohli & Co. were able to force a decider.
It is on to the renovated M. Chinnaswamy Stadium - a ground India's batsmen will look longingly at as they attempt to resuscitate their fortunes in the format. Their victory in Nagpur notwithstanding, India have struggled with the balance of their batting combinations and appear to lack ammunition in the middle to offset England's manicured bowling plans.
Kohli's move to the top of the order, in particular, hasn't quite worked as effectively as it did for his IPL side or as Anil Kumble & Co. envisioned it would. The in-form Indian skipper has been dismissed twice attempting to set the early tempo of the innings - a departure from his more methodical and highly successful approach to building a limited-overs innings. The hosts will be relieved by KL Rahul's welcome return to form in Nagpur but will need the middle order to buck up just soon. Twice in two games they've set themselves up for a substantial total before being outdone by Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills at the death. In Kanpur they were 106 in the 15th over and could only add 41 in the final 5. Nagpur brought even lesser, with only 36 runs coming off the final 30 balls of the innings.
Their expert death bowling aside, which India matched in the second game, England have been particularly good with the ball through the middle as evidenced by two fine Moeen Ali bowling performances. They face a daunting proposition against the minuscule boundary lengths at the final venue and if records from the IPL and the two teams' range-hitting sessions on the eve of the match are anything to go by, England's desire to head back home on a sweet note hinges one final bat-v-bat contest.
When: India vs England, 3rd T20I, February 1, 19:00 IST, 13:30 GMT
Where: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
What to expect: Pleasant evening with temperatures hovering around 25 degrees Ceslsius. There is no forecast for rain and the new state-of-the-art subsurface aeration and vacuum-powered drainage system is unlikely to be thrown into action straight away. Curator K Sriram has predicted another high-scoring run fest, in keeping with the venue's reputation.
Team News:
India
Kohli and Kumble have resisted the urge to hand a debut to Rishabh Pant but there may be reason to throw in the Delhi dasher at the top of the order. The Delhi dasher took the nets only at the fag end of India's net session on Tuesday and is unlikely to be played in the crucial game. India will have to reconsider their use of Manish Pandey. The Karnataka batsman has struggled to force the pace at No. 6 and India could be better served with more bowling cushion on what has historically been an unforgiving surface in T20s. That means Parvez Rasool could join Amit Mishra and Yuzvendra Chahal in a three-prong spin attack.
Probable XI: Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (wk), Manish Pandey/Parvez Rasool, Hardik Pandya, Amit Mishra, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah
England
England have little reason to tinker with their line-up despite their previous loss. Left-arm spinner Liam Dawson was rendered ineffective by Rahul and Co. and could once make for his namesake Liam Plunkett as the only possible change. England also have David Willey and Jake Ball on the sidelines should they find the need to bolster their seam bowling department
Probable XI: Jason Roy, Sam Billings, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Tymal Mills
Did you know?
- If India win in Bengaluru, they will have registered their first T20I series win against England in five attempts. England have won three while one ended in a stalemate.
- Yuvraj Singh has scored only 282 runs innings at an average of 18.00 and a strike-rate of 98.60 in 18 T20I innings since the start of 2014. He has a solitary half-century in this period.
- Amit Mishra became the second Indian bowler to take 200 wickets in 20-over cricket after R Ashwin, who also has exactly 200 scalps. Among leg spinners, Mishra is only behind Shahid Afridi's tally of 257 wickets.
What they said:
"We don't really focus much on the decisions given on the field by the umpires. Sometimes, it (the decision) goes in our favour and sometimes it goes in their favour - that happens in cricket. So you got to move on and forget about these things."
- Jasprit Bumrah dead-batted all the umpiring talk ahead of the decider T20I
"It's pretty straightforward now, where we are in the series. It would be good to come back from the other night. It was obviously very frustrating and disappointing to finish the way it did. [Tomorrow's game] It will be great preparation for the major tournaments."
- Joe Root is eager to put the disappointment of Nagpur behind him and end the tour on a series-winning high.
